Abstract
A conversation between James Robson and the artist, Alexandre Singh, about two of Aristophanes' plays: Thesmophoriazusae and Frogs. The discussion takes in subjects such as: the historical context of the plays; notions of the poet as a teacher; comic caricature; staging, costume and cross-dressing; comedy's relationship with tragedy and its re-use of tragic material; the portrayal of women; and comedy's engagement with the 'real world' and political life of ancient Athens.
