Abstract
Introduction to a series of eleven articles on diverse aspects of political and social change in southern Africa since the 1950s, ranging from civic disturbance to electoral reform, from land control to media manipulation, and from education policy to infrastructure initiatives, to the stories of Zimbabwen ex-soldiers, concluding with an account of questions raised when narrative is disseminated.
