Public places and age

Holland, Caroline (2015). Public places and age. In: Twigg, Julia and Martin, Wendy eds. Routledge Handbook of Cultural Gerontology. Routledge International Handbooks. Abingdon: Routledge, pp. 455–462.

The chapter explores how older people may experience public places. For everyone there are physical, social and legal constraints on what spaces are 'public' and 'open', but for older people there are also specific considerations and often disincentives to being in public places at certain times and in certain ways.
