Abstract
The pace of change in the taxonomy of Aloe, Haworthia and related smaller genera seems to be relentless, with a seemingly endless stream of new publications, with new data or revised proposals for their evolutionary relationships. There is, however, a growing consensus that both Aloe and Haworthia were not acceptable taxonomic units as traditionally conceived in recent years, because their classifications did not reflect their evolutionary relationships (Walker, 2013).
