Abstract
When he came to London in 1710, Handel brought with him the compositional experience of his years in Germany and Italy, but also a political relationship with the Hanoverian court that complicated his situation on the accession of King George I. Here the developments of the period 1710-20 are examined from both musical and personal standpoits.
