Abstract
A new introduction to this classic novel ['The Lonely Londoners' by Sam Selvon] of black immigration to Britain to mark 50 year anniversary of its publication. First time appearance as a Penguin Modern Classic. Novel has had much influence on postcolonial and Caribbean/Black-British studies. The introduction sets up Sam Selvon as a major black modernist who has had enormous influence on a whole generation of contemporary, not just black writers.
