Abstract

In this chapter we explore the nature and significance of classroom-based educational dialogues for children's development and learning. Drawing on socio-cultural theory and contemporary educational research we consider initiatives designed to foster 'dialogic teaching' and interventions designed to enhance the quality of children's group work.
