Abstract
Metaphor makes connections across difference. In this chapter, I explore creativity as a metaphor researcher and as an artist. In my research, I engage in analysis; in practising art, I engage in creative synthesis. These opposing processes are used to probe the nature of linguistic creativity, to understand more about the practice of creativity in metaphor use, and to question the existence of a creativity cline (Carter 2004).
