A novel intergeneric hybrid is reported and described: xTavarorbea C.C.Walker nothogen. nov. (Tavaresia Welwitsch x Orbea Haworth). This new name is an amalgam of the two parental generic names, and has been devised as such because the seed of the one known cross, recorded and described here, was produced on a plant of Tavaresia as the female parent. A single cultivar in this new nothogenus is described: xTavarorbea 'Red Leopard' C.C.Walker cv. nov.
