Abstract
The chapter examines in detail, and from previously unpublished documents, issues surrounding the bankruptcy of the London music publishers and instrument makers Longman & Broderip. Clementi's role as an assignee to the bankruptcy is described, as is his acquisition of the company, with other partners, in 1798. his actions in establishing the new company as a major European company is examined from contemporary documents, including previously unpublished correspondence.
