This volume develops ideas presented at a conference entitled 'The New Communicators: graduates with Languages' which was held in July 2000. The papers offer fresh analysis of issues that are of central importance to the future of language teaching and learning in higher education.
The book provides a contemporary research perspective on the central questions of university language teaching in the new millenium and an evaluation of the impact of the largest injection of Government funding ever made to help university language learners.
