Abstract
Using original comparative research data collected in Britain and in Japan this book analyzes the diverse processes through which managers are made in the two countries. It provides comparative detail about careers, training, developmental experiences and job demands of managers in eight named case companies. Each firm is matched by size and sector across the two countries. Quantitative and qualitative data are used to reveal managers' experiences and perceptions of their comparative experiences.
