Abstract
Discusses theatrical images and their uses as historical documents in the context of Aby Warburg's 1895 paper 'I costumi teatrali per gli intermezzi del 1589'. Analyses how inherently ephemeral theatrical events can be studied more broadly using materials such as scripts, production drawings, and relevant correspondence as well as background historical information.
