Abstract
This chapter represents a first stage in the progress towards a fully comprehensive critical survey of books and articles on Commonwealth literatures. Three countries are represented this year, with sections covering books and articles on African and Caribbean literatures, and a third section treating the main Canadian periodicals. The chapter is arranged as follows: 1. Africa, by James Booth; 2. The Caribbean, by Susheila Nasta; 3. Canada, by Owen Knowles.
