Abstract
Specialists have suggested that it may be possible to select and arrange certain of the early modern theatrical prints in Stockholm's Recueil Fossard collection into a sequence of "highlights" from a specific sixteenth-century commedia dell'arte play. Previously suggested sequences are discussed, and pictorial variants of Recueil Fossard woodcuts, notably three wellknown paintings in Stockholm (reproduced) and two little known sets of prints, one at Yale and a newly-discovered one in Oxford (reproduced), are drawn on to suggest a possible new sequence.
