Abstract
Discusses the Government's proposals to widen the ethnic and social diversity of lay magistrates, as published in a report entitled National Strategy for the Recruitment of Lay Magistrates in October 2003, including: (1) the development of a framework to target the recruitment and retention of magistrates from minority groups; and (2) promoting the work of magistrates to employers.
