Abstract
This is a short note setting out elements of a policy-agenda for a post-apart-heid South Africa. It is tentative and sketchy, and designed to stimulate discussion. Although economic prospects seem reasonably optimistic, these are contingent upon a political settlement facilitating the implementation of the designated strategy. We have assumed that this political settlement is one involving a mixed economy, one which does not lead to a flight of white skills and one in which the 'atmosphere' encourages investment (by whatever mode of ownership) for a long-term future.
