Abstract
Presents a research on the relation of children's knowledge of individual sounds and patterns of sounds in speech to success in learning to read in Great Britain. Likelihood of children who experience difficulties in learning to read show signs of speech perception difficulties; Connection of sensitivity to speech rhythm to the development of pathological awareness and reading ability; Link of pathological awareness difficulties with rapid processing of sequential information.
